Without knowing zilch about studio lighting I can only suggest that you compare the price of replacement bulbs and the longevity of them for both outfits. Given that you're starting on this route, you may want to start with something that is cheaper to maintain in order to get you through the learning curve. Afterwards you can reconsider.
I'm going to respectfully disagree. Most every studio photographer I know, whether they are pro or interested amateur has gone through a similar equipment list, starting with hot lights in reflectors, moving to shoe mount flashes that have been Rube Goldberged into working, and from there to some sort of studio flash system. I figure buy what you are going to end up with anyway right off the get go and learn how to use it.
