This is an out of character Scrub Jay. These are the Calif. version of a Blue Jay. They posses the manner of other Jays I've known, (raucous bullies) but don't sport the top knot. This one came screaming onto the fence I believe only to scatter the Finches from their thistle seed feeder. I had the 55~300 mounted on the K10 back up and set it off just as he shook and fluffed up his feathers. Gives him a completely out of character "cuddly" non Jay look.
