You shouldn't because it's a waste of time. It won't prevent anyone from 
stealing the images. Of course if you have nothing to do, adding a copyright to 
the meta data won't do any harm.

On the other hand, when you sell a photo you can add a copyright. Better yet, 
make it part of the contract. Furthermore, most reputable buyers will indicate 
that they respect the copyright when they make the purchase. The contract 
usually comes from the buyer. And reputable buyers are the only ones who pay 
enough to make the sale worthwhile.
