Connecticut doesn't have a lot of major tourist attractions. There's a
lot of quirky little stuff. The Peabody Museum of Natural history, may
or may not allow photography, (I haven't been there in a while and they
never asked me not to photograph). How far out of town are you willing
to go? There's a small Trolley Museum in Branford, just a couple of
miles from the Center of New Haven, you can probably get close enough to
walk by bus, of course I have no idea what it's winter hours are, they
have special excursions for Christmas, and that's unfortunately. Eli
Whitney's work shop has been preserved as a Museum just a bit North of
New Haven in Hamden. City parks, (East and West Rock Parks offer views
of the city. The New Haven Green, (along with the Guilford Green), is
reputed to be the model for those features in every other town that has
one. Local beaches, The whole State of Connecticut isn't much bigger
in land area than the City of LA. About an 1 1/2 hours east of New
Haven by Car is Mystic, which has an outside Colonial Mall, The Mystic
Aquarium, and Old Mystic Seaport, (as well as Mystic Center which isn't
actually a Town but has all the attributes of one except for an
independent Government. You know now that I think of it, I should never
get bored looking for things to Photograph around here...

Oh yes, there's Yale University. Most of the archetecher, (well the
buildings built between the colonial period, and about 1950's, seem to
be stolen from Ox-bridge. You might even think you were in part of
England). After the 50's there's a lot of Bauhaus inspired Modern
architecture.
Yale is definitely on the list, mostly because my friend is a grad
student there, and its architecture is something I'm interested in.
Any interesting historical sites around the area? There's not much
history in my part of California before the Gold Rush, so I'm always
interesting in seeing stuff older than that.
Thanks,
