You may find the surface area framed by the base of the stand (6x6 cm or so) a bit small for your intended use but you can a) remove the spring clips for a flat surface on top of the base or b) place a counterweight (equal or greater 1.5 times camera plus lens) on the base and mount the camera on the back so the base frame is not underneath it.
