Wow, indeed! It goes to show how conservative we are here that we only get 4 color choices. It'll be interesting to see if there's a gray market here for the Japan-only exotic colors. Last night they told the story of the white K-2000. Pentax came up with the idea but were nervous about its sales (or not!) potential. They were going to launch a market research program to see if it was viable. The new owners Hoya told them that with their manufacturing technology they could put the camera into production for less what the marketing research would cost. So that's what they did. The result was excellent sales and lots of favorable publicity (other than amongst pixel-peeping Pentax fanboys). Even more impressive were the demographic data: DSLR buyers typically consist of 80% men and 20% women. With the white K-2000 it was 50-50. Most of the women were first-time DSLR buyers, too. This really got everyone's attention because it's a hugely important demographic. Before long we'll probably see lots of DSLR's available in a choice of colors, just like MP3 players, cell phones, etc. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
