The generic spot-things trick -- hold still, stop talking, and look at
nothing in particular -- works for frogs, too.
And if one can see absolutely no frogs, start looking at the reedy
margins for a heron or a bittern. :)
They can be rather hard to spot
ok .. what are the odds again? (how did I miss making that pun
earlier???)
as they are nervous around people -
a pattern of behaviour noted in the aphorism "Once bittern, twice shy".
