Anybody else just getting to their emails today and feeling a bit snowed-under with all the new messages about the new camera that I (you?) can't afford?

Well there's underwhelmed and overwhelmed, both of which are bad, so I figure that being whelmed is just right. :-)

Matter of fact, I *can* afford the K-7 ... but I'm not going to buy one now. My money would be better spent on a DA* 55 or maybe the 60-250.

I spent 18 months working with a K100Ds, first learning how to make it work, then learning how to get the most out of it. When I finally felt that it was holding me back in a few ways I bought a K20D. I'm only about 3 months into the learning curve with this miracle of photographic technology and I'm probably good for another 12-18 months before I need to think about adding a K-7 to the kit.

I'm really excited that Pentax has produced this little wonder. It means that my gripe about shutter noise and size/weight can be easily fixed anytime just by getting it. But more importantly it also means that Pentax has vitality and will less likely disappear, forcing me to have to replace everything with Nikon gear. It will likely add more Pentax owners to the user-base which helps us all.

I don't mind all the hoopla at all.
