I'm one of those unix people; I'm using ufraw. It would not be difficult to lighten the image; I could adjust the brightness, the saturation, turn down gamma, or move the overall exposure to the right. I put it where I did, brightness-wise, out of a desire to keep the varying shades of grey in the background bokeh, but the result may be very dim for general distribution. I suspect that I have a brighter monitor setup than most and need to do something to calibrate it before I try this again. Thanks!
