I showed both pictures to some colleagues at work, who don't know HCB from JCB, and they preferred mine! They said it was much clearer. They couldn't understand why I prefer his. Interestingly I did not have a copy of HCB's picture with me when I took the shot, so I was a bit lucky to be standing pretty much on exactly the right spot, and getting the framing about right. It's a great credit to the people of France that they haven't ruined the skyline of Paris, the way we have ruined the skyline of London. In fact Paris seems to get more and more beautiful every time I go there, and the people get more and more friendly. Perhaps it's because they can see me walking around with an inane grin of pleasure on my face. I've also found that people like to see a Leica, and seem to appreciate it more than people in London - it puts a smile on their face.
