Bob, I'm about 125 miles south of Santa Monica. It's Los Angeles vs San Diego, just follow the old Spanish missions down the coast. San Diego is much smaller, dominated by the Navy, and not as pricey. Many of these towns built a pier and a roller coaster/arcade like Santa Monica. We like it for better weather, less congestion, and no smog! It's just right for a winter getaway. Regards, Bob S.
