I think it works that if someone has time to take pictures they do,
otherwise they talk about it. Kind of like the way some people deal
with sex and pr0n.

Today is frustrating because I have my brand new DA40 and I haven't
really been able to play with it. We had a friend spend the night last
night, and on the way to work this morning I did a quick shoot with
her at the covered bridge in Felton. By the way John, there were all
sorts of critters (mostly birds, and at least one bunny) hanging out
around the bridge when there weren't a lot of morris dancers jumping
around.

At lunch I was reduced to taking pictures of my iced tea and salad.

It'll be several hours yet before I can look at them on a computer and
have any idea how they turned out.

There are some things I'd like to see tested which aren't, probably
because setting up a valid test (not that validity is always a concern
to the people doing the test) is tough. For example, rating tripod
performance: rigidity & damping.

One of the things that I play with is making my own flash
diffusers. I've been trying to think of a way to test them to get some
idea how they'd work.

I think that what I need to do is to set up some sort of targets a set
distance ahead of a white backdrop and get a shot of the pattern of
the flash on the backdrop, Expose at a "standardized" iso, f/stop and
focal length So I can compare how much light is absorbed and how wide
the throw is.

This, however, will only give me an idea for what to look for, before
trying them out in real life.
