Subject: Film-days
Hello
Sometimes I want the film-days back. Imagine how easy it is to
shoot some
film and have a good lab develop the prints. The lab will darken
the too
bright images, correct colors and brighten the to dark images.
Then you
choose the 10 % best and send them for scanning. Then you give the
CD to
your client.
No more long hours at the computer converting or editing all your
RAW
files, tagging them, filing them, changing hard drives etc. for your
images. Just give the client the prints and the CD. Get paid. End of
story!
Those where the days, ehh?
In most ways I prefer film imaging. I work a lot harder with
digital to get
a good image than I ever did with film.
Ditto. When shooting slides, I am quite ruthless with those that
are substandard. I seem to spend far too much time trying to
extract (usually unsuccessfully) something useful out of substandard
digital files.
Have the film-days gone? I still use it sometimes when it is
impossible to get the same result with digital, such as fiber-based B/
W prints and the combination of shallow DOF and wide angle you get
with large format.
