Thanks Christine, and to everyone who has replied. Local bandwidth is an issue, but should not affect video too much, so I'm looking into it. I used www.speedtest.net to check my connection, and at 7pm when all those Jungkunz are playing on their Xboxes and chatting on MSN, I get about 1.4 mbps down. This morning at nearly 10 am I'm getting 2.8 mbps (2880kbps) which for an edge of village (read end of pipe!) connection is not bad. BTW, we recently had an ancient outside phone line replaced. It snagged in a bush and became intermittent during a windy night. Crackly phone line and dropped connections. Now it's fine, but after doing some research I got one of these (in the UK): <http://www.techradar.com/reviews/computing/networking-and-wi-fi/other/ bt-iplate-465594/review> <http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/ShopDetail.asp?ProductID=7256> and it really does work. Before the iPlate I was getting about 1.8 mbps max. After, up to 3 mbps max. That was definitely worth 12 quid! -- Cheers, Cotty ___/\__ || (O) | People, Places, Pastiche ||=====| http://www.cottysnaps.com _____________________________ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
