I had my own Arrrgh yesterday. Maybe not as bad, but..

A friend gave me her old Fuji Finepix A350 which had a stuck lens (it had been dropped with the lens extended).

I bought a tri-wing screwdriver ($3) to disassemble the case, pulled off the back, the main circuit board, the battery casing, and finally the lens assembly.

After about 45 minutes of fiddling around with cams and levers and gears, I got the lens components snapped back into the grooves they were supposed to be, and the lens would telescope out and shut back into itself nice and neat. Problem solved.

I started reassembling the camera, with a few false starts as I got the sequence of some items wrong.

Finally, putting the main circuit board on the back before getting ready to snap the case shut... I broke a ribbon-cable connector on the board.

I spent the next 1.5 hours trying to figure out how to get around that little problem, and finally gave up.

I was *so* close! Yes, it's not a great camera and I could buy a new one for probably $60. But the point is... I *almost had it figured out*!

Grrr.
