Other than the whorehouses in Livingston, and skidding backwards through the cemetery gates on my way to Banff, my favorite memory of of my one semester at Montana State College at Bozeman in 1961 was waking up to find the glass bottled Coke I had left on the window sill in my dorm room had exploded overnight (the window was open 30 mm - we both smoked) coating the floor and some furniture with sticky brown.

After cleanup, I went out and joined the guys in a game of tackle football in sneakers, bermuda shorts and a t-shirt, the required uniform. It was -43° F at 10 am and the sun was brightly shining.

Game lasted about 20 minutes. :-)

Lots of bruises and skinned knees from the frozen ground.

WOW! Better there than here. The latest outlook for Friday and
Saturday here is upper 20s to low 30s for highs and upper single
digits for Saturday morning. Unusally cold for here, but back to
upper 40s by Sunday. Wonder what the temp will hit on GFM. I remember
21 below winter of 1963 at Lees-Mcrae college in Banner Elk.
