The current pentax filters are SMC. They are superior to the Hoya filters in many ways. Better flare resistance, easier to clean, and better build quality. I've been through the B+W-Hoya merry-go-round, and after some comparisons feel that the Pentax SMC filters are about the best you can buy. I feel so strongly about that that I'm getting rid of all my Hoya filters and replacing them with Pentax. Some I've never even used, or used only once.
