features a 7x optical zoom lens equivalent to 38-266mm. Furthermore the
lens is internal and doesn't extend from the camera, protected by a
plastic screen and a sliding lens cover. The Pentax Z10 has an 8

departure from the norm for Pentax, who usually specialise in more
conservative 3x zoom models. Have they bitten off more than they can

I know 11x17 50mg 300 dpi is printing talk -- its a matter of being able
to interpolate up to that... 300 dpi = 300ppi
SOunds pretty neat to me... and B&Hhas one for $124...
I'm going there tomorrow to buy printer ink and paper anyway

I was pretty tempted myself, but...I visited the site you included above, and
find it has no viewfinder, so I quit reading about it.
"Chimping" has never appealed to me...
My S4 has an optical viewfinder that zooms in and out in concert with the lens,
so you always see exactly what the lens sees!
Well, not exactly, as the viewfinder is 1 1/4" offset from the center of the
lens, so it's sort of like a small rangefinder camera in that respect...
I find framing the shot in the viewfinder gets me very close to the image
composition I want, and as I can always manipulate the image (crop and such)
later, it works for me.
Which to me relieves me of the task of checking everything on the external LCD
all the time! I can do that back home, if I feel the need.
After all, it IS a snapshot camera! People seem to quickly lose sight of that,
and criticize it for it's shortcomings, but I have used mine for a long time now
and find it's a marvelous little camera, and in truth, 4 Mpixels is pretty
decent resolution for most things.
In fact, if you found a good price on the S5i or the S6, that's even better!
Identical in size and handling, but the 30-50% increase in resolution might make
all the difference to you...
On the street, I prefer the old style of eyeballing the scene, composing and
framing it in the eyepiece just before pressing the shutter. It's always worked
for me...and has the additional benefit of being very fast. All things considered.
But, to each his own. If you can handle one, and use the eyepiece while
observing the scene zooming in and out...you might find you really like it.
That it has worked very well for me is merely hearsay evidence, anyhow! :-D
Good luck tomorrow!
