Which Agfa, my father gave me a Ansco Speedex 4.5, 85mm Agnar lens, in a
3 speed plus bulb Vario shutter, when I was 16 years old. (more or less
an Ansco Isoleta 1 I think though I've never seen an Isoleta quite like
it), basically the stripped down model no RF.no DOF scale, though it
does have X sync. The bellows is full of pin holes at this point and
the original "green" lubricant on the focusing helical has turned into
green concrete. I've been thinking of trying to bring it back to life,
it made nice sharp well exposed negatives when I did everything right.

Maybe I should shoot a roll with my father's Agfa folder. It's a 6x6.
I've been meaning to do that ever since I cleaned the lens and warmed
up the shutter a bit. It had been sitting for at least forty years. It
focuses by scale as well. As I recall, he got lucky from time to time:-).

Yes. There is a focus scale on the "lens" and you try to guess the
distance and set it :)
Previously I used a Zeiss Ikonta (was my grandfather's camera in the
40's) and that one had the same system.
I have bought a roll of Ilford B&W film and will shoot it probably
next week (hoping for better weather).
I am really happy for this nice camera.

Should be fun. Is focus by scale?

Yesterday I went in an antique shop with a friend (we like to go
such shops :P) and asked them if they have any photographic
equipment. Well... they did.
First what grabbed my attention is a Zenit 122 with a Jupiter
f2/85mm lens on it. It was quite cheap so I was sure to buy it :)
Asked the dealer to get it off from the shelves and as he took the
other items he picked a leather box... a small brown box approx.
15x10x4 centimeters... I asked him if I can see what it is. Well it
was a compact camera from the 30's, a Voigtlander Bessa.
So after some bargain I got the price for the two cams down to ~95$.
So here is my newest compact camera with the highest resolution
Medium Format available (9x6cm "sensor size" :D), with a fix 110mm
lens with f4.5-16 aperture, 1/250 fastest shutter speed, dual
viewfinder, full metal body:

Oh yeah, the picture was made with the Jupiter 85mm @ f2 :)
And there will be a photo-flea market tomorrow! (I am trying to
take no money with me :D)
Cheers,
