Think  some aren't getting the point, ann. You've got a Canon and want to 
shoot for the  PUG now and then. (I have the same issues. :-)) I have a s4i and 
it is just  adequate. But a really handy size. I think keith's recommendation 
is good, in  other words. You can get decent shots with a 6mp DSLR so a 6mp 
Optio is probably  about as low mp as you should go. Several s6s selling on 
ebay 
right now for  under $150.

Note I do love the size of the Optio S4i (seems same size as  the s6), it 
fits easily into a purse.
