...and that's it for the DS. I have an extended warranty for the DS and it's finally come to this - the camera has been in to Pentax repair 3 times for a problem where it will suddenly error-out writing to the card. Doesn't matter which card, really. Sometimes you can go for hundreds of shots without it happening, next time it will freeze up after 2-3 shots (like, right after you've started shooting whatever event it is that you brought the camera for).
Speaking with my local shop, they are now working through "NEW" (name of the company which provides ext. warranty work for them) to get the camera replaced as a "lemon" - this is after it has worked almost flawlessly since October of 2004. Makes me a little sad. My daughter, to whom I handed over control the DS in May, will probably be happy with a brand-new, reliable replacement though! I played a bit with the K200D in the shop today, as the manager said that is probably what he would shoot for as a replacement. Hmm.... felt really nice in the hands. I know it's basically a K10D sensor with improved electronics and a DS- style control interface. Man, if it weren't for the fact that I love love love the layout of the controls on the K10D, I'd consider taking the replacement for myself and giving the K10D to my daughter. But now... So, a moment of silence for a rock-solid little camera which served me well. Anyone want to buy a Katz-Eye for the DS? I have a spare now. Or would swap (ha - fat chance!) for a K10D-compatible one. -Charles -- Charles Robinson - [EMAIL PROTECTED] Minneapolis, MN http://charles.robinsontwins.org -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
