The body was fine in the tests. The lens was sent back to Japan from Germany and the Japan factory finally replaced it with a new one (just after 3 months of wait!!!). I do not think this is a fair amount of time to wait for * series lens service. The new lens is good optically, BUT: they have not assembled the lens correctly so the bayonet mount for the original lens hood is in a wrong angle. I cannot use the hood because it sits with about 30 degrees of rotation to the right (looked from the back of the camera) and blocks some light at wide angles. The third sample of this brilliant lens is coming today or tomorrow. I think they will strongly need to improve final testing and QA. I am a bit hesitant to buy another DA* lens now. Should I sell all my Pentax gear and follow Cotty to the dark side now ;-)?
