G'day All, I had a mission today. Buy some stop bath for film processing. I know I don't really need it, but we are water poor here, so in an attempt to help save water I wanted stop bath.
There aren't many places around town that sell B&W chemistry these days, so I had to drive into the city (I hate having to do that). I went to a place I've known about for ages but had never been too. They didn't have any. So I stocked up on other chemistry while I was there: <http://www.arach.net.au/~savage/Misc/Images/K20D/Story/_IGP2991.jpg> Luckily just around the corner is another place that usually has a good range of papers & chemicals. There I found what I wanted: <http://www.arach.net.au/~savage/Misc/Images/K20D/Story/_IGP2988.jpg> Now some may be asking why the interest in film? I just feel like a change. And I need to refresh my memory. Also my father has expressed an interest in processing his own B&W. Now while I was at this second store I had a good look around at the bags & tripods, & drooled over the Leica M8, Leica M7, Voigtlander Bessa 2A/3A, Hasselblad H2, Hasselblad X-Pan, Linhof 617 etc, etc, etc. In the corner, to my surprise, was a decent selection of Pentax kit. K20D, K200D, FA 50mm, DA* 16-50mm, DA* 50-135mm, DA 21mm, DA 40mm & DA 70mm. Uh oh, I was in trouble: <http://www.arach.net.au/~savage/Misc/Images/K20D/Story/_IGP2990.jpg> Last one in stock, demo copy (yay for discount :-). I had been resisting this lens for some time due to the smallish max. aperture (I shoot quite a bit of hand held low light stuff) but today my resistance was low. Anyway I got it home & fired off a few test shots at the first things I passed and the way from the car to the house: <http://www.arach.net.au/~savage/Misc/Images/K20D/Story/_IGP2974.jpg> <http://www.arach.net.au/~savage/Misc/Images/K20D/Story/_IGP2977.jpg> And something I probably shouldn't have shot, lest I void the warranty: <http://www.arach.net.au/~savage/Misc/Images/K20D/Story/_IGP2986.jpg> :-) Cheers & have a good weekend.
