No.  If the flash thinks it is connected to a camera that
can talk P-TTL, there's no way to set the flash to "A".
You can try to do it - it might even appear to work when
you look at the LCD panel on the flash.  But the first time
you half-press the shutter on the camera the flash will
switch to P-TTL mode.  (Verified on my *ist D).
