I've started having wild overexposure problems with my AF540FGz and K10D.
At first I figured it was dirty contacts - cleaned everything. Then I thought low batteries - charged them. Same problem. It seems to works almost flawlessly in the "A" exposure mode. But not in P-TTL. The Sigma EF-500 DG Super works like a charm on the same camera in just about any mode - with a few exposure problems no different from what I've had when using the past 3 years on my ist-DS. Then I figured out what the problem is (but not how to fix it): I'm not getting much of a pre-flash. Sometimes the flash doesn't go of AT ALL but I get a teeny-tiny little blip of light out of the flash. Basically.. the pre-flash is so pathetically non-flashlike that the K10D or whatever it's attached to go "oh, I didn't get much light reflected back, I'd better crank up the output!" and the 540 is going for it for all it is worth. So WTF? What the hell would cause it to pre-flash so low as to be non- existent? And is there anything I can try...... short of sending it in for service along with the 16-50 I just sent in today? I'm so frustrated and sad at the same time. Oh - and angry! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. -Charles -- Charles Robinson - [EMAIL PROTECTED] Minneapolis, MN http://charles.robinsontwins.org I am riding in the MS-TRAM this summer.
