It's called "Captain Sir Richard > Francis Burton" and it's by Edward Rice. A very good read for anyone
> interested in this fascinating character. > I have most, if not all, of the biographies, including Rice's. The one I enjoyed most was "A Rage to Live" by Mary Lovell - it's a joint biog of Burton and his wife Isabel, and sets the record straight to some extent about her and about their relationship. When it was published there was an accompanying exhibition at the Orleans House Gallery in Twickenham (close to where they lived) of some of Burton's possessions, as well as original portraits and photographs. It was extremely interesting, and happened to coincide with my return from Harar, so it was very a propos at the time.
