Check out the *original*: Eisenstein's "Battleship Potemkin". The scene from "The Untouchables" that Dave refers to is based on the "Odessa Steps" sequence from this 1925 masterpiece. This film was hugely influential, the Odessa Steps sequence in particular (Terry Gilliam did a brilliant and funny tribute to it in his film "Brazil"). Sergei Esienstein is responsible for one of my favorite filmmaking quotations: "A smooth transition is an opportunity lost." -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
