Bill, I tried dark orange (more like red) filter on *istD once. The idea 
was to hmmm force myself to think in terms of B&W. Except of that very 
exercise, the results weren't too impressive.

The best way IMHO to do what you want is to shoot RAW and post-process 
accordingly.
