A little while ago, Boris asked my opinon on fast 50mm lenses. I don't think I helped him much by saying there wasn't that much between them. I certainly can't tell the difference. I like all of the 1.2s for the bokeh so super sharp results aren't high on my priorities.
The A, cost a little more, and I tend to use it more than the other two. The A and the K are optically the same lens. But on my sample, I think the K has taken a bump or two. The filter ring is warped, and the front element is slightly loose. Doesn't affect the results as far as I can see. The Porst is somewhat poorer in construction, but still a gorgeous lens to use. http://members.iinet.net.au/~derbyc/08_03/08_03_fifties/index.htm Mike Johnston had a good blogpost recently about how much people like "absolutizing" differences that they can detect, but when it comes down to it, real-world results don't bear the comparison. http://theonlinephotographer.typepad.com/the_online_photographer/2008/02/sensor-sizes.html I completely agree with him.
