Hi Jack, Yes, the noise is noticeable on number three. It's the result of underexposing to preserve the highlight detail. Number two is basically the same shot exposed at about meter reading, but the bright highlight on the front of the bird burns out. A function of the light. Deail looks pretty good, even at 100$; Of course a TC and lens isn't the optimum answer. The first two were off the tripod, BTW, so you wouldn't have to lift it:-).
