Funny beaver story..
My mother in law phoned me one day in a bit of a panic. Apparently, there was a
beaver trying to
attack her dogs, which fortunately were in chainlink mesh dog runs. I tld her
that what she
realy wanted to do was phone the Lumsden RCMP detachment and get an officer out
with a shotgun
to shoot the darned thing, since it was obviously rabid.
Of course she had to know how I was making that sort of judgement from 30 miles
away, so I asked
her if she thought a beaver that didn't have rabies would be trying to attack
her dogs.

Point taken, and an officer was dispatched.

They have the coolest way of dealing with rabid beavers. They use a 12 guage
shotgun, loaded
alternately with shot and slugs. The first round of buckshot is supposed to
slow the animal
down, and then the slug kills the thing.
If they miss, then another round of buckshot and then another slug.
Beavers can be pretty hard to kill, from what the RCMP boys say.
