Godfrey: You caught this shot at the perfect moment. The balance of elements and composition is excellent. What's really impressive is the placement of the little girl's hand & straw--it seems just right to me to communicate the "absorbed" state of being of a young curious child, and it's juxtaposition next to the reading mother is wonderful. Also, they are both absorbed, but you still get the feeling of togetherness, affection because of the way they sit together. The background elements enhance the photograph as well. The shadows are subtle--elegant. Truly, a very elegant photograph caught at just the right moment. Cheers, Christine
