I have a stack of Pec Pads and a spatula which has been trimmed to the
right width for the DS sensor. Each time I clean my sensor, I use a
full Pec Pad wrapped around the end of the spatula just so... so that
the middle of the pad is what contacts the sensor.

I would not cut the pad at all as it just runs the risk of introducing
little flecks of god-knows-what which could come loose at just the
wrong time.

I don't know what your "sensor swabs" look like, but take a look at
the "Copperhill" site and see if you might not be able to adapt some
of his techniques to the bits you have.
