There are many and I don't want to come across as negative about them; they are all interesting, vibrant and fun places to nose about and find the odd bargain as well. The problem is that the local Boroughs promise one thing and deliver another. Walthamstow was supposed to have a major redevelopment which was supposed to enhance the area and provide better facilities for all. The reality has been an increase in rents and less stallholders - and the proposed redevelopment of the small arcade shops with good quality council flats above, being exchanged directly for a cinema, better shops and more community housing, looks as if it is all going for expensive private flats. The main rivals for these smaller stalls are the major supermarkets, who undercut them. As usual, it's not about an area, it's about money. I hope Greenwich gets what it is promised. Interesting link - especially following them to 'How to become a Trader' at Greenwich.
