Hello all, I have a macro setup problem that I thought I would pose to the list to see if anyone can come up with a solution for me.
It's not a problem with camera lens or flash, all that works very well. I've just been photographing museum specimens for a friend of mine that is publishing a paper. Two of tonights specimens are one of a kind, only specimen of the species in existence holothurians (sea cucumbers) that are reasonably fragile and approximately 8 mm (1/3 inch) long. My problem is that to photograph them at their best I am suspending them about 2 cm (3/4 inch) above black velvet. I can't sit them on glass as they tend to roll to show the wrong bits and the glass reflects. If I sit them on the velvet they instantly pick up any stray threads. At present I an sticking pins into blu-tac and having the pointy ends go through the velvet and balancing the specimen on them. I can't stick the pins into the specimens because of the damage that might cause. I also need ot hide the pins behind the specimen so it is not visible in the image. So, does anyone have any ideas on an easier way to support these specimens, without damage? -- Leon http://www.bluering.org.au http://www.bluering.org.au/leon -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
