Drivers speaking on the phone by actually using one hand to hold it to their ear is only a fraction as dangerous as drivers holding the phone in their lap and texting while driving. Police here regularly prosecute after accidents by checking mobile phone providers of all participants for any activity at the time of the incident. Death by careless driving is a custodial sentence, and so it should be.
