on the subject of beautiful cinematography, and Ridley Scott, be sure to watch The Duellists (again, if necessary). It was Scott's first feature, made on a miniscule budget mostly in natural light, and heavily influenced cinematographically by Kubrick's Barry Lyndon. It's probably one of my top 5 all-time favourites.
