This is very much a color pic, so a  B&W takes away too much. Definitely 
should be in color. I think the  desaturation helped make it look more real, 
but I 
also think you desaturated too  much. Now, if you keep playing with it, it 
gets into the matter of minute  adjustments. I just suggest if you shoot RAW, 
that you have saturation on the  convertor set low. If you shoot JPG set the 
saturation low too, you can always  add more saturation  later.

I  desaturated by -18 (which may have been a tad too much, I'd probably bump 
it  back up a notch or two, say +2 or +3), but mainly I selected and lightened 
the  sky separately. The sky being so blue-blue is what most made it look 
like a  postcard.

Some of the toy model look of the original is very desirable,  because some 
of it is simply because you were high up and far away.  

Anyway, it is a good composition, Christine, and adjust or not adjust it  the 
way you like. It really is a matter of personal preference.  

Sometimes one can get too greatly influenced by the list :-) -- always  
please yourself first and foremost.
