Just something I shot this evening when one of our young cats was running around with something it just had caught.
http://picasaweb.google.com/axelpics/General/photo#5151370163066185202 I like the moment I caught - I am not too happy with the the lighting. This is the first shot I took after grabbing the camera; I shot several more but none of them match the 'quality of the moment' of this first. I shot this with k10d + da* 50-135 + metz 58 AF-1 with camera on P with slow mode sync - trying to get some fill-in flash result under quite low light condititions, with as result that the low light room under the table where the cat was sitting resulted in loooong exposure which I eventually cut short by just switching off the camera. Hmm... this is what I used to do when an exposure time turned out to be longer than intended - seems this same trick still works in the digital era, or...? for the other shots (that lack 'the moment') I also reduced the exposure time so there the flash really blows the 'natural' room lighting away, such that e.g. table legs really stand out in the harsh flash light. I found that I like those less than the one I show here. I'm not really sure what would be the best way to get a nice effect. I'm kind of tempted to use as much as possible of available light by shooting (almost?) fully open (f/2.8), maybe with camera on M to pick a not too looooon exposure time. I'll probably have to just try (practice) more :-) Axel. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
