Thanks for all the replies. I'm still trying to find a Photoshop softening technique for portraits that I find acceptable, which is why I keep bouncing this stuff off the list. The rendering of the nose seemed to be a cause for consternation with a few people. Note, this is not a DOF issue, or a lens issue, but a rendering issue in Photoshop. For the curious, here is a full res jpeg without the retouching or other work I did on the file. For the download challenged, it is 3mb, so don't click the link if you don't want the thing.
