Hi gang,

Just thought I'd mention that I have been enabled twice :-)

Thanks to Godders for passing on a K17mm 3.5 fisheye that I bought
recently from a Californian eBayer.

It arrived yesterday and (yes I know - abhorent according to the
Allingator) I took the Dremel to it, removing the aperture lever and
plastic surround. It now has an (eBay bought) K mount adapter on it and
I tried it on my Darkside 1D (1.3 crop sensor) and it's fabulous. Will
post some pics soon.

Another lister helped out with my calls for an A20 2.8 and I have now
secured one, so thanks to all who responded.

The Allingator will be relieved to know that this lens is not for the
chop! I recently found a good eBay deal on a Panasonic L1 (4/3rds sensor
system) with the Leica 14-50mm D Vario-Elmarit lens that seems to be all
the rage.

I wanted a streetable grabcam with a medium wide prime to emulate the
days when I wandered with my little Leica CL and 40mm lens. The L1 is
not little, but a lot smaller than the Canon 1D, so that's a plus. The
idea is I sell the lens and with a bit of luck end up having paid
peanuts for the camera, which is a distinct possibility.

Hence I will be eBaying the Leica lens shortly. I'll offer it here first
- can't imagine anyone would be interested here, but you never know. I
don't know anyone other than Bob W who's bought into 4/3rds.

So, the A20 will simply have an adapter bayonetted onto the rear - no
surgery necessary - and will have the same angle of view as a 40mm lens
on 35mm film - ideal for me. Again, pics posted in due course. I've
been using the L1 with an old K mount RMC Tokina 17mm 3.5 that's been
hidden away for years. The viewfinder is dim and distant compared to
Pentax and Canon 1D finders (we have an *istDs as well) but useable and
love the retro stying with shutter speed knob on top, aperture rings et
al. Great fun to use. Even been shooting in mono mode - I find I think
in black and white much better if I know it's going to shoot in black
and white. I might even tape a box-top from a roll of FP4 on the back as
a comfort ;-)
