I walked quite a distance after breaking my wrist. I knew it was broken, and I needed to go to casualty, but I didn't know where casualty was in that town, and didn't want to leave my bike & bags while I cadged a lift off someone. Luckily I found the fire station and was able to leave everything safely locked up and get some first aid while they fetched the paramedic.
