Back from Chicago I just sorted through the digital
snaps from earlier
today. Nothing great but here are a few highlights of
the day -

First - you have to understand what kind of weather we
were dealing with
in this blustery, northern city, now that fall is upon
us. This shot
from the lakefront near the planetarium more or less
tells the story:

And 80 F to boot :-)

Another shot from the planetarium - sailboats heading
out:

Mark Roberts proved to be the master at seeking the
unexpected shot.
Here he is - with K10D and the DA 10-17 fisheye zoom:

Can't wait to see what he got with that lens...

After hanging around the lake front for a while we
ventured into the
Field Museum, had lunch, and took in some exhibits. A
shot of the
museum's main floor:

And a few details from this great building:

After that we headed off to Millenium Park. Here's
Mark and another
model showing off the fall shoulder bag fashions in a
catchy
photographically inspired session -

I didn't mange to get any shots of Bob - but enjoyed
our conversations.
After the fountains in Millennium Park Bob and I
cooled off with soft
drinks while Mark shot at the bean.

At that point I decided to head home while Mark and
Bob headed off to
the brew pub. Had I known that the Michigan government
would shut down
at midnight, virtually eliminating all highway
patrols, I might of
lingered over a few beers for a while. But I still had
two functional
states - Illinois and Indiana - to get through before
hitting the the
Michigan anarchy zone, so that might not have been a
good idea.

It was a fine day in Chicago. Aside form the digital
snapshots, I took a
roll of Neopan 400 in an almost antique Kodak Retina
1a. A gret camera
with no meter and a 'guess the distance' focusing
system. Well, it's f8
and be there time with this - and the roll of film is
drying as I type. There might be a good shot in there
- though I seem to have mis-guessed exposures in a few
cases.
