Canon also produces co-op ads with retailers, allowing the retailer to put
their store info on the last page of multiple-page newspaper insert ads.
This helps retailers, but consumers often show up expecting all the items in
the ad to be at the store when there are usually a bunch not carried by the
store. The retailer then often convinces the customer to buy something more

expensive.

I buy that. I'd like to see Pentax in more stores.

Canon appears to care less about quality than advertising and sales volume
when it comes to consumer cameras. Their pro stuff may be great, but their
consumer stuff is often of lesser quality than that of Pentax, Nikon and
others.

Not so sure about that, but I do think the K100D is a lot of bang for the
buck. Which is why I got it. Trouble now is, the lenses. Not enough new ones
out yet and hard to find when they are out.

There's no doubt Canon is one smart company, just saying their cameras don't
exactly hover.

Frankly, as long as a camera does what I want, I don't need all the bells
and whistles, I am more interested in lenses. To me, that seems more
determinant of a resulting good picture or not.

And I really don't care much about brands, per se. In any venue. Just
agreeing with Ann in liking the 300D. It's not that weird to like it. :-) I
also
root for Pentax because of Pentaxian friends on list who have big investments
and I want them to be comfortable and happy.
