One great advantage of organizing photos by categories, keywords or whatever is fun watching photos you would never see together (because they were taken in a different time, on different materials or exist now on a different mediums) but thanks to sharing common keyword or category they are now displayed in one view, often side by side. I remember when I started using image cataloging software it was one of things that struck me most.
