The DA21 Limited I won in the Pentaxian.com contest arrived yesterday! I'm still in a state of shock over it all, actually. When I look at the lens on my K10D, it looks completely alien, I'm so used to bigger, cheaper lenses. A small part of my brain panics, wondering how I could afford to buy such a thing, even though the rest of my brain knows better.
The first pics I took with it were of my cat, and they weren't particularly great, so I'll save y'all the bandwidth. Now that I've got a wide prime, I'm thinking of trying some street photography. San Francisco's Folsom Street Fair is coming up, I think, and there's no shortage of interesting subjects there. This is only the second Limited lens I've experienced (the first being a 77mm that Shel let me use for a few minutes a couple years ago), and I'm amazed by the build quality and general feel of the DA21. The hood is one weird piece of metal, but I do like how compact it is. The cap is going to take some getting used to, that's for sure. Overall I love this lens, it's just going to take a little while to get used to it, in many ways. :) Today I won a $50 Amazon.com gift certificate. Perhaps my luck is finally turning?
