I've criticized them in the past, so when they come through I want to
make sure everyone knows.

About two weeks ago I received a defective DA* 50-135 F2.8. There was a
loose optical element rattling around inside like a marble. After months
of waiting and the glowing reports about the lens, this was very
disappointing. B&H sold out its stock within a few days, and rumors were
that there would be no more until later this month. If I sent it back to
B&H I was facing weeks or more before I could get it replaced.

Ned Bunnell read my post on dpreview and asked me to contact him. He
arranged for Mr. Phil Kerswill, Pentax USA's Product Support Department
Manager, to contact me and offer a replacement. Pentax even shipped the
new lens to me by overnight service.

I was out of town for the weekend, so I got the new lens this evening.
This time it's a beauty. Everything that moves or turns is as smooth as
butter.

Ned and Phil and Pentax USA came through, and I am pleased.

Joe
