Funny, I tried this earlier today, before reading this part of the thread. I have a Sigma lens (yes I know, I swore I wouldn't but it was too hard to resist) which exhibits a strange AF problem so I wanted to see if I could effect a work-around. The lens manages to AF from wide open (f2.8) to f5 quite accurately however at any aperture smaller than f5 it mis-focuses (MF with confirmation is also out of focus) so I decided to cover the data pin with some tape. What I found when I did was that firstly the lens would not AF and the f number would not appear on the display of my *ist D in Av however the shutter speed varied with the changing of the on body aperture control. The interesting thing was that AF confirmation at each end of the aperture range was spot on. So my conclusion is that lens reports the need for an AF offset for aperture above f5.6, why I have no clue but I know it's a bad idea. Got to give it to Sigma. -- Rob Studdert HURSTVILLE AUSTRALIA Tel +61-2-9554-4110 UTC(GMT) +10 Hours [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://picasaweb.google.com/distudio/PESO http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~distudio//publications/ Pentax user since 1986, PDMLer since 1998 -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
