I was just about to recommend the same as David. We're installing dual screens in many people's offices at work these days, using different brands of cards for AGP and PCI-e, and the issue seem to be the same for all. We've had the same issue in reverse before, btw, with people using laptop computers and extending their screen desktop to a desktop screen when connected to a port replicator. They had some difficulty retrieving their application windows when working away from their office...:-)
