Well, I've been lacking in any inspiration lately, as evidenced by my most resent PESOs. So I decided to revisit some old images that I really wish had turned out better. This one had a couple of problems. First and I couldn't do as much as I would have liked here, the framing was off, I didn't know what the subjects were going to do and as usual they did something other than what I expected. However I cropped a little closer and I guess it looks alright. Secondly the light skin on the woman was a bit blown out, and I was unable to really compensate for it in any of the raw converters I was using. However Raw Therapee to the rescue. It was able to bring out detail in areas I thought was entirely lost. I think I'll be using it for most of the difficult images I have from now on. (On the other hand it's work flow leaves a lot to be desired even compared to Pentax Photo Lab 1.0 and RSE leaves it in the dust). That said it's capabilities at image processing are nothing short of amazing, especially for a program that's essentially free. Well I guess you're interested in the image.
This was taken about a year ago at a Dance exhibition. Some people may remember "Tango!" (I'll post a link in case anyone is interested). It was a difficult lighting situation and my compromise exposure rendered what I thought was a very strong image much weaker than I would have liked. Well this one wasn't nearly as difficult a lighting situation. In fact I pretty much nailed the exposure. But then again the subject was more brightly illuminated than the background. However the composition bothered me more than anything else, it wasn't exactly what I would have wanted. However here it is, the finale of a particularly violent French dance, the name of which completely escapes me, where the male throws the female around like a rag doll. http://home.earthlink.net/~morephotos/PESO_--_finali.html Equipment: Pentax *ist-Ds/smc Pentax M 85mm f2.0 Note: I really don't want to hear crap about the M85 being unable to capture sharp images, it sure as hell out preforms a 6mp sensor, and it shows that needing special "digital ready" lenses is just hype. P. S. I've been drinking Scotch, so sue me. P. P. S. Oh yea. Tango! http://www.mindspring.com/~megazip/PESO_--_tango!%5Ba%5D.html -- All dogs have four legs; my cat has four legs.
